Shawn Paonessa is an actor, director, writer and producer for the stage and screen. After co-founding and performing for an improv group in 1997, Shawn Paonessa joined the Jobsite Theater ensemble in 1999. In that year, he also wrote his first one-act play, Learning Swerve, with newly discovered writing partner, Neil Gobioff. Since then, Paonessa and Gobioff have written many pieces for the stage, all produced, including the award winning The March of the Kitefliers, which broke several box office and artistic records, and the off-Broadway musical Pericles: Prince of Tires, featuring their book.
Paonessa has directed in various capacities including: The Guys, Embedded and Hurlyburly. Favorite onstage performances include Petruchio (The Taming of the Shrew), Oscar (The Odd Couple), CB (Dog Sees God) and Guildenstern (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead). He has performed in film, as well, including Past the Fields (Vertine Productions.)
He has also served as a producer of the films Clutter (Co-Executive) and Winter in the Blood (Associate). Shawn is a co-founder and the Creator in Chief of Kitefliers Studios.
